-Dog Friendly: $120 Dog Fee per Dog-Dogs must be leashed when outdoors - For both the safety of your pup and the house, please crate dog if you are not at the house.
-One Guest Parking Pass - Not to be used for general On Street Parking. Specific use instructions provided in the home
-NO Smoking of ANY substances in the home/outdoor smoking is restricted to paved surfaces
-Please be conscientious of water use
*** PLEASE READ - HEATING: A passive heating system using thermal/solar panels heats the home throughout the day & well into the night - if it gets to warm, open windows, vents & doors to let in the ocean breeze cool the house.
There's a wood stove in the living room - the main heat source in the winter. The upstairs bedroom has a baseboard heater, the downstairs uses space heaters.
- Wood Stove Directions: Please be sure to bring wood and kindling w/you as we do not provide it. Wood can be purchased at the Dillon Beach Store or Tomales General Store

CHECK-IN INFORMATION
•Check-in instructions—including address, access code, and arrival details—are sent 2 to 3 days before arrival via a link with everything you need. Please do not arrive to the house without your check in instructions.
• We Have a Guest Reference Guide in the home. Has everything you need to know for a seamless stay!
• Check-In: 4:00 PM - Check-Out: 11:00 AM
• Early check-in or late check-out (may be available for a fee.)
• Guest support is available 9 AM – 9 PM daily, with after-hours emergency assistance.

this place was by far one of the best places we've ever stayed with stunning views. the views were worth every penny. down to the hot tub on a cold night! we watched a beautiful sunset from the back patio then woke up IN THE CLOUDS the next morning. can't say enough about the VIEWS! tucked away on the side of the pacific coast! AMAZING. we def would stay again. the drive to San fran is a little over an hour the little towns near dillion beach are adorable! JUST BOOK IT.

Staying at Abalone Alcove was such a treat. The property was so comfortable and was styled in such a way that it immediately felt like home. The views were utterly breathtaking. The addition of a telescope offered hours of whale watching entertainment. Offshore breezes and the sound of crashing waves allowed for complete relaxation. Already wanting to go back.

We were not prepared for the fireplace and no wood to heat the home. There were only two dish towels for 5 days to keep kitchen clean. the store is 20 minutes away. I would remind guests to pick up firewood to help guests be more prepared<br/> we were messaged a couple of days before trip if we wanted to buy baked goods and we could venmo but nothing about cold weather and to bring firewood.

We love this location and each time we rent a little longer than the time before and I’ll be darned it still flies by. Amanda (wine country to coast rental agency representative is amazing. Excellent customer support. The amenities this time were great! House always had a coffee pot, but now they have a Keurig machine (we used usually packed ours) and different flavored pods. Also the bathroom has upgraded supplies and for the hot tub towels are now provided for guest use! Sounds silly but I really appreciated all the extras the agency provided and didn’t have to unpack half of my own items. Love the entire atmosphere of this house. The deer are so beautiful and friendly. Pet friendly too!

This is a really great home. It’s super cozy and the view is stunning. The visits by the deer really made it special. It’s a nice layout where the kitchen & main bedroom are on the floor where you enter. Our older dog couldn’t use the stairs. They’re a little steeper than normal. <br/>The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because I had a very negative experience with the management company. I received an email at 4pm on our arrival day which I didn’t see until 10pm. The email said that there would be road paving the following day. The email & attached map was so unclear that it looked as if we might be stuck inside the house for the week. I impatiently waited until 8am the following day to call the emergency # to find they had no one I could talk to. It ended up we were ONLY stuck inside the first full day we were there. It was a very stressful. I understand things happen and they didn’t know the HOA was paving. It worked ok to stay in that day. I’m really surprised I never got a follow apology or call. I also never requested compensation. Just disappointing.

This place was perfect for a get away to just relax and breath. I was looking for a place to just unwind and relax from the constant everyday worries and stresses. I wasn’t sure what foods to bring and what I would be able to prepare meals with but this place has it all. Once I arrived I saw I had nothing to worthy about I went out to the chairs in the back with a beverage and watched a beautiful sunset followed by my first of many times in the spa. There is a picture of the few from the living room couch that doesn’t express enough how nice it was to sit on the couch in the morning with my coffee and see that few without any obstructions at all. I recommend this place for anyone who is looking to get away, plenty of enjoyment for a family as well

Our stay at Abalone alcove was very relaxing. Although it was really storming outside, we had all the comforts we needed to enjoy the view, the storm and relax all at the same time. Abalone Alcove is a cozy vacation rental with an absolutely lovely view ofDillon’s Beach. And the pool table created very entertaining matches. Mom won - lol!

This house was great. Plenty of room for us to have our own spaces but also lots of opportunities to gather. Hot tub, pool table and so many games to play! A great weekend get away.

Abalone Alcove was a great way to escape the Valley heat! The whole reservation process was efficient and clear communication all the way. Staff was quick to respond to all questions.<br/><br/>The house is cozy and plenty of room for the five of us. Panaramic view is fantastic, although was blocked on our final day. Access to the beach is close and parking day pass handy.<br/><br/>We came early in the week and the Coadtal Kitchen only opens Thursday through the weekend.<br/><br/>Will return again!<br/><br/>

My husband and I came to the abalone alcove for our anniversary celebration and to also celebrate our birthdays. We had such an amazing time there! The views from the kitchen window and the living room.. actually every single room in the house had an amazing view! The sun rises and sunsets were so gorgeous! The home was roomy and comfortable. I enjoyed making meals for us to eat and sit at the kitchen table and watch the sunset. Or to have something to drink while we were soaking in the hot tub. Dear were always around the house. Such beautiful creatures! My husband and I enjoyed playing pool downstairs. Even though he won all the time! We would have coffee in the morning and watch the deer eat grass. It was such a lovely, beautiful, peaceful, gorgeous time and we are so grateful that we had a wonderful place to stay! The wood stove was such a nice touch!<br/>When we walked in there was a welcome basket filled with goodies and the place was so clean. Even the couches were vacuumed and you could see the lines! I was actually comfortable sleeping on the sheets because the rest of the house looked so clean. The dishes and glasses were spotless and I didn't have to wash them! It was just simply a wonderful time. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We will be back!

Thank you for sharing your home. We absolutely loved the house, scenery of wildlife and ocean views. After a walk to the beach the spa was a “ten”!! The only sad part was leaving. I have rented this house multiple times and every time has been a wonderful experience. The views are breathtaking. The kitchen has everything you need to make that perfect meal. The pool table downstairs makes for family fun. The hot tub in the evening is perfect for stargazing. Will be back again.

Abalone Alcove is rustic and lovely. Well equipped and furnished. Spectacular views, comfy furniture. Loved the patio out back, which is a little sheltered from the big wind. The walk to beach and back is down a steep hill and back—so not for the unfit. Easy drive to beach, though. Already planning a return trip—new favorite!

I rented Abalone Alcove to host friends from out of town who had never been to the ocean before. Our stay was from Thursday night to Sunday morning and we lucked out with some great weather during this normally cloudy, cold October. The house was quite clean, came with a kitchen stocked with necessities like spices, salt/pepper, and a full complement of kitchen supplies, and also included some things that I suspect previous guests left behind, like yeast, tea/coffee, etc. We were also given some welcoming snacks and a bottle of sparkling water, which was a pleasant surprise. <br/><br/>Our stay was very relaxing, with an upstairs and a downstairs and several comfortable nooks and crannies where people could find some quiet time to read or get away from the group. We played pool and enjoyed the hot tub (though for some reason the cover of the hot tub comes up so that it blocks the only window off the porch area, thus blocking the only possible view from there). There was also an outdoor grill which we didn't use, but which looked fully serviceable. Internet was fast and reliable. The house was easy to warm and while space heaters were provided for the rooms we used them mostly for enjoyment, not because they seemed necessary. The wildlife viewing from the house was spectacular! We saw deer, fawns, raccoon, quail, red-shouldered and red-tailed hawk, kestrel, and turkey vultures all from the comfort of the sitting room window.<br/><br/>This is definitely a house to enjoy the view, and not one for easy (walking) access to the beach. The house is up a steep hill and it's about a 15 minute walk downhill. This is not a walk for people unused to walking and hiking back up to the house should only be attempted if you are healthy with good lungs and walking muscles. The house includes a parking pass for the neighborhood, which is great for parking at the bottom of the hill and avoiding the $10 parking fee at the beach. Overall we had a wonderful weekend!

Great place to hang out with our adult son and his wife and dog! Close to beach and an easy ride up the coast...Spacious kitchen to prep food and cook in with well supplied pots/pans and dishes. (Wish there was a teapot for we tea drinkers!) Amazing views of the beach from the comfy couch and chair in the upstairs space where we read, ate, and played games at the large table. Game room downstairs for pool and smart TV to watch movies. (very uncomfortable couch to sit on - please replace!) Disappointed that unfortunately the hottub was broken, but hosts were responsive in compensating for this. (And also responded quickly to a question regarding laundry facilities.) We 4 would definitely come back! Thank you!

Our stat at Abalone Alcove over the fourth of July was amazing. The property is perfectly located on the hill, just a short walk down to the beach. The views are amazing and cannot be beat. You can spend hours sitting in the comfortable living area looking out the picture windows at the ever changing landscape. The house is well appointed, clean, cozy, and well stocked. You will not be disappointed with this rental and I hope to return again.

We had an absolutely wonderful long weekend at abalone alcove. The view was unbelievable. Even better than the pictures! The house was situated perfectly, views from every room. My kids loved exploring the surrounding rocks and hills. The house was extremely clean, I loved how they had welcome music playing for us. The kitchen was very well stocked, had everything we needed to cook all our meals. We had picked up some oysters at hog island and used the grill as well which was in perfect working order. The pool table was a hit. Only down side was the mattress in the upstairs bedroom was extremely firm. We have spent lots of time at Dillon beach and this house was definitely one of our favorites. We will definitely stay again!

Amazing location and such a well thought-out space. The privacy afforded by having each bedroom/bathroom on a different floor inside, the surrounding green space outside—luxurious! The views from the bedrooms, living room, kitchen, patios, hot tub—unmatched in our experience and we’re all travelers. Were there any tvs? A pool table? Who knows?? (I mean, of course there were but we spent all our time watching the waves, ships, DEER EVERYWHERE, seals, sunsets...) The only downside was that the kitchen was so well-stocked that we didn’t use any of the kitchen gear we brought. The town is PRECIOUS. The off-leash dog-friendly beach was the highlight for two members of our party—and ALL the dogs were friendly. We will absolutely stay again, in this same house, if we have the opportunity. And we are VERY VERY reluctant to leave such a good review because we’d really rather keep this place our little family secret. But if you’re still reading this: just book it!

I have rented many different rental homes in Dillon Beach and I must say that Abalone Alcove has the most stunning views from living room and kitchen. Very comfortable beds, fun pool table, well appointed kitchen, 1 minute drive to beach. Will definitely be coming back to this house! Only one suggestion is that there be more windows that open to cool house down in the afternoon. Utilized pull down sun screens which helped some.

Lovely place to visit. Bedroom and bathroom on main floor and bedroom and bath on the lower level. Hot tub on deck with window in the fence to view the ocean while you are in the tub. Beach a short drive away. It was $10 per visit. Picture window in living room to look out over the ocean. Kitchen utensils were available and had a good selection. We would visit this place was exceptionally hot when we got there. A portable fan was promptly delivered at our request. Buy all your groceries before you arrive. The shopping area is 30 min away. Place was clean. Previous guest put away some dirty silverware and dishes but that was the only issue we encountered and we washed them before using them. Ground around house was steep. Not a problem for us but may be a challenge for others. Great place to stay.

The house was mostly as described and very comfortable. Everything is slightly dated and there were a couple of missing or difficult items (no iron, couldn't figure out turning on the heat, could have used a couple more pillows and blankets, etc.) Also Dillon Beach Property Management sends WAY too many emails. The system is confusing and hard to navigate (I don't want to download an app or log into a portal to retrieve important information) and they sent the same information many, many times by email. Otherwise everything was great.

Yes, there are some minor cosmetic issues. The kitchen and bathrooms are original to the house, most likely built in the early 80s. I’m guessing the 1980s because a publication touting the structure’s innovative solar heating system, posted on the wall, was printed in 1981. The house’s efficient modern style feels more 1960s than 1980s to me.<br/><br/>Because we arrived after sunset we had to wait until morning to enjoy the view, but the brilliant stars were a wonderful welcome. The next morning we awoke to a treat to the eyes and spirit. Every window from the kitchen, dining, living, to bedroom has a different vantage on the sprawling sea, beach, and hills.<br/><br/>Over the week we enjoyed the location. Dillon Beach General Store is under new management, as is the Resort restaurant. Both worth trying. Armstrong Woods also great. I’m a bit sad to leave.<br/><br/>Management company was responsive.<br/><br/>

This house has a spectacular location and a breathtaking view. My family enjoyed the spacious house, pool room and hot tub. This house is clean and comfortable, it hasn't been updated, but it has everything we needed. It can be hard to find a spot to stay with our family's two requirements 1 - hot tub, 2 - dog friendly. The Abalone Alcove delivered!

We enjoyed a wonderful week relaxing and enjoying the views from this comfortable beach house on a hillside. The house is exactly as described and suited our needs perfectly. It was equipped with everything we needed and then some! We were surprised by the wildlife sightings - mule deer, gray fox, turkey vultures, brown pelicans, scrub jays, costas hummingbirds, red-shafted flickers - all from the living room windows! We stayed at Abalone Cove for 5 nights. We loved the large windows with expansive views of the beach, Tamales Bay and surrounding area. The house was well-stocked and the grill was very clean. Overall the home was pretty clean, but there were some cob-webs and corners of floors that needed more attention. The living room is super comfortable with a large sectional & we enjoyed having fires, playing pool & using the hot tub. It's a great walk (about 15 min) to the beach, which we enjoyed. Dillon Beach is a remote place (which we loved) so plan ahead and get groceries before you come. It's a half-hour to Petaluma. Overall, this home is heavenly and we would return!

This house was on the crest of such a lovely view. The hot tub was perfect for the chilly afternoons after the beach. The house was well set up and the rental company took great care to be sure we were welcomed! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

We had a great stay. The house is fantastic -- clean, commodious, great views. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are great, we loved playing pool and using the hot tub. We hope to come back!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time! After my father passed away in September I could not bare the thought of doing our traditional holiday festivities. I proposed a Christmas at the Ocean to my family and they were willing to give it a try. <br/> I spent weeks looking for the perfect house and I found it! In fact, we loved the house and our stay so much that we decided to make Christmas at the Ocean and at this house our new holiday tradition!! Everything was perfect and we cannot wait to go back. The property was nicer and included more amenities than we expected. It was clean and very well maintained. FIVE STARS FOR SURE!

My husband and I (plus our two small dogs) spent a few days here for our anniversary. We had a great time and wished we could stay one more day. I wanted to clear up a few things that we read in prior reviews that worried us and caused hesitation before booking. Luckily they ended up being non-issues but we'd hate for anyone else to be scared off by some of the negative comments.<br/>- Hot tub: Contrary to some reviews, we did NOT notice an unusually strong chlorine/bromide smell and we spent a ton of time in the hot tub. The jets are finicky though and randomly turn on and off at times, but other than that worked great.<br/>-Overall cleanliness: House shows it's age a bit, but it's cleanliness was more than adequate and much cleaner than what you'd expect for a dog friendly home. Very satisfied.<br/>-BBQ: Worked perfectly, no complaints. <br/>-Pool table: No level issues, felt in good condition, all the balls were there. <br/>-Bedding: Very clean & good condition.<br/>-Contrary to prior reviews the house was not stuffy and cooled down very quickly with the windows open. There are multiple windows that open, however some of them are hard to close due to broken handles, probably more of an issue during the winter. <br/>- We experienced no issues locking ourselves out of the front door (common sense applies here).<br/>- Minimal cleaning required upon check-out. Comparable to every other rental we've stayed at. (not nearly as daunting as one reviewer claimed). <br/>- Pull-out couch: Yes, this was uncomfortable but we only used it once to watch TV on. My husband and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary at Dillon Beach. We rented Abalone Alcove. The home was clean. Plenty of towels, blankets, etc. The kitchen was well equipped. You can enjoy the views from the large picture windows found in the main living area, extending into the kitchen area. The 2 patios also had great views. The spa was somewhat private with another view to enjoy morning coffee and mimosas. We really enjoyed our stay at this house and hope to return.

Abalone Alcove is great. We loved the fantastic views from front room, bedroom, and kitchen windows. The enclosed deck is so private and also safe for letting dog in and out for a drink of water. There were two other patios on the lower level that were great for enjoying the sun and views (along with deer).

I love Abalone Alcove! It's like staying in the Brady Bunch's beach house in the best possible way. So cozy and warm! Spectacular views from every room. The only downside was that the hot tub was not working as advertised. We were totally bummed about it but overall did not put a damper on a magical stay. Just would have made it that much better!

My wife is an artist, and she loved being able to set up in the living room and paint the beautiful views.<br/>We took a nice day trip down Tomales Bay to Point Reyes, stopping at Nick's and had lunch in the boat house with friends. Another day we ventured down to Hog Island for some of their wonderful oysters.<br/>We had a lovely time and will both recommend to friends and return in the future, I'm sure!

What a memorable week we had at Abalone Alcove!! This property is beautifully situated high above Dillon Beach; and we spent hours enjoying the view of the town, the ocean, Tomales Bay, Point Reyes and of the open space right in front of the house, where we often saw deer. We had 7 adults + 1 dog for three nights and just two couples the remaining four nights. The house worked perfectly for us! <br/><br/>Although we brought a few items from home for specific food preparation that we did, the kitchen is very well-equipped. Also, there was an abundance of blankets, pillows and futons to complement the two very comfortable beds and two sofa beds. <br/><br/>We made good use of the hot tub and pool table; set up the card table to do puzzles; sat out on the patio to enjoy the views; had lunches at the picnic table in the enclosed entry area, and watched movies on the large TV in the game room. Many enjoyable meals, conversations and games were enjoyed around the dining room table, which we converted to a round table when there were just four of us.<br/><br/>We had some days of abundant sunshine and a couple of days of rain. The house was great for all situations! <br/><br/>We highly recommend a stay there!<br/><br/>

We had a great time. I liked that the house had basically two living areas - upstairs and down. The views were wonderful! The home was well stocked with cooking utensils and everything that we needed. In the past, we had camped at Lawson's Landing but I no longer have the RV -- I kept saying, "I'm so glad we are in the house this year"! I'd rent this home again.

The house was very clean and well stocked with staples and kitchenware. Beds were very comfortable. Game room downstairs was lots of fun and the grounds and views are beautiful. Enjoyed the deer everyday. The deck/courtyard was very nice for use of Jacuzzi and BBQ. Will be back for a getaway again! Easy access to beach! Excellent customer service!!!!!!

This home has the most beautiful views. I was up before the sun every morning to watch the moon set on the water and the sun start to rise in the east. The home was comfortable and spacious for the three of us and had everything we needed for cooking meals there. The large picture window in the kitchen overlooking the ocean made clean up and dishes a treat instead of a chore. We hope our travel plans bring us back to this area again and if they do, we will be wanting to stay in this home again. Dillon Beach Property Management company was excellent to work with and Val even made a courtesy call while we there to make sure all was well and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We did the night tour at Alcatraz (excellent views of SF from the island), Segway tour of San Francisco, Pier 39 had great foods and shopping although could have used much more time there to shop. Excellent antique arcade on Fishermans Wharf that was a lot of fun. Caymus winery in Napa had the best wine of the wine tasting we did, and Union Hotel had amazing italian food paired with excellent service. We wished we'd had more time to explore locally as the Tomales bakery and deli, the William Tell House, and Lawson's Landing were places we wanted to check out and just didn't get the time to do so.

I enjoyed a wonderful visit back home to Dillon Beach and enjoyed time with my son and his family. The house was very comfortable and provided a spectacular view!

From the moment we opened the door and saw the views from every room we knew it was going to be a wonderful stay. Pool table, Jacuzzi and games galore. Kitchen had everything you need. Clean and welcoming, our family will be back. This home had something for everyone. Oh and the wildlife all around was an added treat. Twin fawns and momma as well as bucks grazing outside our door. Who could ask for more after a play day at the beach. The property managment folks are very helpful to see your needs are taken care of. Don't pass this one up!

This home is amazing. The views were surreal, especially while sitting in the hot tub. The kitchen had everything you need, to include a great gas BBQ! The walk down to Dillon Beach was about a 30 min walk. Or a 5 min drive. The beach was gorgeous and extremely dog friendly :) I highly recommend staying here!

Our family enjoyed a very comfortable and enjoyable 3 nights at Abalone Alcove. You felt "right at home" and really felt like it was YOUR home. Fantastic views complemented the nice, let's sit around read and relax atmosphere. Perhaps the only drawback is that the dishwasher could probably be replaced (many racks missing holders). That did not detract at all from our weekend, but it was noticed. The only other thing is that it is not an easy walk to the beach; consider driving, although for the truly hardy, the uphill return walk is do-able. Overall, we will be back again!

We had a great get away in Dillon beach and stayed at a cute, clean cottage that was perfect for our family of five. The house felt very spacious and welcoming. They had everything we needed. Not to mention, the view was incredible. We would come back again!

We had a very relaxing week at Abalone Alcove. We have stayed there before. It's perfect for 4. The positives are the view and the comfortable vibe. The only thing I would warn people about is that our papers say 1 King, 1 pullout, 2 singles. The downstairs has a queen bed and the sofa bed springs downstairs are broken. My son couldn't sleep on it as the mattress would fall off. He slept in the living room. The garage was locked so no washer/dryer. We could pick up enough 3G on AT&T to check email but nothing more so don't count on internet. (Good!) All said, a lovely property and we will book again!
