Great location for a weekend away
Reviewed on 2025-08-20 by , NA, NOTAVAIL ZZMy partner and I spent a long weekend at The Black Nest, and overall I would recommend it for its great location and proximity to Guerneville and all of the associated activities. The cottage is just down the road from Guerneville and very easy to run into town for groceries or shopping. It’s also very close to a nice river beach which makes it extremely easy to get all of your gear down to the beach to be able to relax. The cottage is definitely small - I think fitting four people would be a bit of a challenge, but the outside areas around the cottage are great for relaxing and enjoying the sounds of nature. The hot run was wonderful as well. <br/><br/>Overall, the place could do with a bit of a deeper clean. While we are in the woods, the sky lights and beams in the ceiling are covered with cobwebs. Additionally, the bath mat was dirty when we arrived. Lastly, the front gate does not latch all the way so we had to use a rock to keep it closed while we were home<br/><br/>Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and would probably come back and stay here myself as well.

Everything was decorated very nicely and we enjoyed every minute. We had a down pour of rain while there, but don't let that make you decide not to go. We enjoyed our wine and the hot tub even while it was raining because they thoughtfully covered the hot tub area with a canopy. Highly recommend staying here!

We lost cell reception on the way up, but the welcome packet in the front provided us with all the information necessary for wifi and even gives instructions how to enable wifi calling! The cabin is surprisingly cozy and the hot tub was better than expected. There were some nice snacks and a bottle of sparkling water for us upon arrival. The bed and other furnishings were comfortable. The garden area is charming and we enjoyed it as best we could given the rain. The rock garden was greatly appreciated because it really helped me keep my white fluffy dog clean despite the rain and mud below the cabin. We were warm and cozy and had a nice time. The washer/dryer was useful as well.
